As a local church we are grateful to the men and women who went before us, as previous generations stepped out in faith as the Lord led them. Today, we are beneficiaries of those who acted in obedience.
For nearly 50 years, FlameTree (previously Nambour Baptist Church) has proclaimed the message of the kingdom of God to the community of Nambour, to the wider Sunshine Coast, and to the nations from our current home at Coes Creek. What previous generations have been faithful in carrying, is now given to us to discern and ask ‘What is the Lord requiring of us that will help establish the praise of future generations here at FlameTree?’
With many new families worshipping at FlameTree, we have out-grown our children’s ministry areas. We have inadequate space for the growth the Lord is bringing. Our auditorium is consistently full, or nearly full, as more and more people are finding a spiritual home here, enjoying the freedom that marks our times of corporate worship.
And it’s not just about the current need, or facilitating worship for those who are already Christian. We sense God calling us to make room for a coming harvest of prodigal sons and daughters and those who have never known the story of Jesus in their own lives.
Over the last 12-18 months, following much prayer, we as a leadership have felt invited by the Lord to dream with Him about our future- a future that does not revolve around a building project, but a future that will involve a building project: an upgrade to our children’s ministry areas and gathering spaces at first, followed by a larger worship area/auditorium in time to come.
This kind of future, frankly, is beyond our capabilities in the physical.
But, God.
History shows us that God is in the habit of calling His people to acts of faith when it seems impossible. He looks for those who trust Him, who take Him at His word, and walk in obedience.
But, God…
… is always advancing His kingdom; He’s always building His church.
… calls us to trust Him in all things.
… is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
We believe that now is the time that God is asking us to provide space for growth. We believe that He is giving us a window of opportunity to dream with Him, to believe that He has much more to do in and through us here at FlameTree. We believe that God’s provision for tomorrow is just around the corner of our obedience today.
Nothing is guaranteed quite like His faithfulness.
Nothing moves His heart like faith.
Nothing delights Him more than lost sons and daughters coming home.
We are building to see and celebrate these things together: His faithfulness, our growing, obedient faith, and lives transformed by his great love. And we are asking you, FlameTree church, to pray, to journey together, and to faithfully answer God’s call to step out in faith and see FlameTree come into a new season of growth.
From the early days of the first Baptists settling in Nambour, to where we are as FlameTree Church today.
